These modules will be delivered as standalone CPD opportunities and are targeted at members of staff who teach or support the teaching of Physical Education. Each of the modules is designed to increase confidence and competence when teaching the identified Area of Activity as part of the statutory National Curriculum Physical Education, Programme of Study in the primary school.
This is a one day course to help practitioners build their confidence and competence in teaching gymnastics in the primary school. The course will help practitioners to understand how to teach and ensure learning and progression within and across gymnastics lessons and units of work.
This course will examine and encourage progression and development from Reception through to Year 6 using an inclusive whole school approach. The progressive and safe teaching of basic gymnastic skills will be explored. Combined with this an understanding of principles of movement, sequence construction and extension will be developed both on floor and apparatus. This will equip practitioners with the knowledge and understanding to encourage creativity and build in complexity as pupils’ progress through the school.
N.B: The day will involve practical tasks, presentations, demonstrations, observations and discussion. It is important to note that you will be asked to work in bare feet, and you should wear comfortable clothing.

Non-Attendance and Cancellation Policy: 7 full working days. Failure to notify re non-attendance within these parameters will result in a £50 cancellation charge or the full cost of the course being charged (whichever is the greater).
