GO Gateshead has a strong heritage of supporting the health and wellbeing agendas of local schools by providing children and young people with a wide range of unique opportunities to get into sport and physical activity from an early age.
And with some of the best facilities in the region, featuring 12 swimming pools, five state-ofthe-art gyms, two athletics tracks, a broad range of fitness classes, FlowRider, the region’s only standing wave experience, and introducing our brand new Clip ‘n Climb, and the GO Bears Den, a 4-storey soft play installation; why would you look anywhere else?

The Culture Team delivers an annual programme of events in Gateshead that engage and provide participatory opportunities for communities, schools and visitors to the borough.
This includes large scale festivals like Sculpture Day and Enchanted Parks to smaller scale projects leading to theatre productions or exhibitions. We often work with partners to provide a range of high quality creative and cultural learning opportunities for children and young people.
To carry out licensable activities such as the provision of entertainment and the sale of alcohol, you are required to apply to the Council for a Premises Licence or Temporary Event Notice. You are also required to register with the Council to run small society lotteries. Consent may also be required for events arranged by you which involve street trading.
As well as administering and enforcing licensing laws Gateshead Councils’ Licensing Team can provide comprehensive and bespoke advice on licensing issues and guidance on negotiating the application process.
